The Pain Management Centre is located at GRH’s Freeport Campus, at 3570 King Street East in Kitchener. Services are available during daytime on weekdays.
You are welcome to park in the main parking lot, and use either the Pioneer Terrace entrance or the main entrance. We are located on the main floor (ground level) of the Pioneer Terrace wing.
The pain management centre can help you in the following ways:
- Assessing your chronic pain through the expertise of our physicians and the use of diagnostic instruments; and
- Treatment which can include one or more of the following- medications, special procedures such as nerve blocks, psychological therapies and/or physical rehabilitation therapies. We can conduct injections into specific problem areas using x-ray guidance.
We partner with your family doctor (primary health care provider) through your care, and will keep them informed of your progress. Please note the centre will not take over prescribing of current medications.
Criteria for accessing the centre are as follows:
- The patient must have a primary care provider willing to follow her/him during and after discharge from the pain program;
- The primary care provider must be willing to manage patient prescriptions;
- Patients must be 18 years of age and older; and
- We do not address acute pain, chronic non musculoskeletal pain, daily headaches or known fibromyalgia.
