Our gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy unit performs examinations of the stomach and digestive system. We operate weekdays from 7 am to 5 pm. Our service is available at the KW Campus of GRH, at 835 King Street West in Kitchener.
Important points to remember:
- If you are booked for a colonoscopy, you will have been given instructions on how to prepare for your procedure. It is very important to follow the instructions as your bowel must be clean in order for the physician to examine it; and
- If you are booked for a gastroscopy, it is important to follow the fasting instructions as your stomach must be empty.
When you arrive for your appointment, enter the hospital through the main entrance (this is the third floor). Please report to patient registration on the second floor one hour before your scheduled procedure. There is a volunteer desk in the main lobby staffed by volunteers who will be glad to assist you if you require directions.
Your appointment will take approximately three hours. Your support person or driver may wait for you in the main lobby. If they prefer to leave, we’ll provide you access to a phone to call them when you are ready to go home.
