A vital part of care: thank you to environmental services staff during Environmental Services Week (Sept 12-16)

September 12th to 16th marks Environmental Services Week. GRH is honouring its 156 environmental services staff members who help provide support that enables care for thousands of patients every year.

The environmental services team has many responsibilities, which include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Cleaning services: assistants and porters clean over 90,000 square meters of floor space  at the KW and Freeport campuses;
• VIP porters transported and supported more than 25,000 patient and item requests in 2015;
• Waste management: assistants and porters handled almost 1,500,000 kg of total waste in 2015; and
• Linen management: linen porters handled over 2,603,943 kg of clean and soiled linen in 2015.
