Title: how to get support in a mental health crisis or an emergency.
Sophia Munyani: If you're in a crisis or at risk of harming yourself or others, come to our emergency department as soon as possible. We have an assessment team. We'll keep you safe. We'll refer you to a psychiatrist. You can either be discharged with resources or admitted as an inpatient. And we will make you get all the help that you need. Don't struggle alone. Come as soon as you can. We're at King and Pine Street in Kitchener.

Title: The importance of families in mental health care and recovery...
Elaine Paton: I have two family members that I support who have different mental health and addictions issues. And it was very hard for me to navigate the mental health system. Having a family navigator would have been very helpful for me. I've been involved with the mental health system for 20 years and I've learned that when our family member is in crisis, so are we. So families are very important to the recovery process and they need support to be successful, whether it's social workers or support groups or education. Don't do this alone; there are lots of people out there to help.

Title: Supporting mental health care for children and youth in Waterloo Region...
Gillian McCallum: We would like you to know that when mental health challenges become too much to deal with alone, that we are here for you. We work to support youth, their families. We work with community partners and the schools because we know that mental health impacts all aspects of life. And we need to work together with all parties involved. We have care that's available through our emergency department. We have inpatient treatment, and we have an outpatient clinic where we can provide the right kind of care at the right moment.

Title: How GRH supports mental health for children and youth in Waterloo Region...
Gillian McCallum: The type of support we provide is to help gain a better understanding of the problem and start some treatment. We help to build on strengths and to build resilience. We can facilitate referrals to community agencies and most importantly we want to instill hope.
