The Ontario Hospital Association recently released a report that highlights Ontario hospitals as the most efficient and effective in Canada. Waterloo Wellington hospitals perform even better. What does efficiency look like? This means that we are providing quality health care for fewer health care dollars compared to other hospitals. Ontario hospitals also have the fewest acute care beds per capita to care for residents.
Ontario's health care system is going through a transformation with the introduction of health teams to manage local care and hospitals, as the cornerstone, need stability. As we plan to continue to provide high-quality care in one of the fastest growing regions in Ontario, we are considering the resources that will be needed to sustain current levels of care.
