Out of an abundance of caution, Grand River Hospital is reviewing two unrelated COVID-19 staff cases in its ICUA as a potential outbreak investigation.
Two staff cases have been identified, however we have not found an epidemiological link between the two. We are considering this a potential outbreak investigation out of an abundance of caution and believe that there is minimal risk.
Additional precautions have already been put in place, including testing of all staff and patients potentially exposed to ensure the safety of all and limit any potential spread in the meantime.
Below are additional precautions we have implemented;
- Enhanced patient and staff surveillance;
- Additional high-touch cleaning;
- Cohorting staff as much as possible; and
- Continuing our investigations with public health.
We will be sharing more information as the investigation progresses. The safety and wellbeing of our staff, providers and patients is our top priority.
