FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
J. Wesley Graham Patient & Family Resource Centre Grand Re-Opening
Closed during the pandemic, the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre Resource Library connects patients to the materials they need.
May 17, 2024 – Kitchener, ON – In partnership with the Grand River Hospital Foundation and the Kitchener Public Library, Grand River Hospital is proud to announce the grand re-opening of the J. Wesley Graham Patient and Family Resource Centre. This resource centre has been curated to provide Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program patients, families, and care partners with information on cancer, treatment and community support services.
The resource centre is a true Hospital and Library partnership. A co-branded library card provided at sign up gives patients and other resource centre patrons access not only to the in-hospital collection, but to all Kitchener Public Library resources. New features to be revealed at the re-opening include a community artists wall, counselling space, and smart TV. Services through the Library and resource centre include: access to consumer health databases, digital audiobooks and magazines, e-books, plus streaming music and videos. These materials focus on strategies to help patients deal with a cancer diagnosis such as healthy eating, smoking cessation, exercise, yoga and meditation. Access to this resource centre is available to the entire region regardless of where patients receive their care.
The community is invited to attend a grand re-opening, which will feature talks from Hospital leaders, volunteers and patients, as well as tours of the resource centre, and chemo and radiation suites. All are welcome to this FREE event.
Date: Tuesday, May 21 Time: 5 to 7 p.m. Location: Grand River Regional Cancer Centre’s main floor (3rd Floor, Grand River Hospital)
Registration: None – this is a FREE, open public event
