COVID-19 has brought many changes to local care environments, including the need to equip staff with the protective gear they need to be safe while providing care to patients. So when our pharmacy and cancer care teams saw an opportunity to make the hazardous drug process safer and save N95 masks, both teams rolled up their sleeves and got to work with a sense of urgency. The clock was ticking.

As our health care workers adjust to the new reality of COVID-19, staff and physicians at WRHN are busy using scenario-based simulations to practice how to respond to the critical care events they are used to, with new protocols and gear designed to keep them safe.

Waterloo Wellington hospitals perform even better.

Congratulations to staff in our Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit for winning the WRHN Award of Excellence for their professionalism and positive attitude during a particularly challenging situation. 

Staff in Waterloo Regional Health Network's operating room have come together to teach first year medical students how to ‘scrub in’ – the process of scrubbing, gowning, and gloving – for a surgery to help them get ahead and have the best learning experience while observing at our hospital.
