Members of WRHN’s health information management (HIM) department have won the hospital’s latest team award of excellence for their exceptional work to ensure health information supports care.

Waterloo Regional Health Network has won Canadian Blood Services’ latest Ontario Hospital Challenge. WRHN donors gave 133 units of blood in May.

WRHN will celebrate change for better mental health understanding as its fifth Stomp Out Stigma event takes place at the Freeport Campus tomorrow. Mental health staff at the hospital have organized the event, which will include round tables, displays by community partners, musical and artistic features, a barbecue and much more.

For Chandra Hunter, her mental health journey has offered many insights that can help others. That’s why the Waterloo high school teacher is using her lived experience to break down mental health stigma so others will get the care and understanding they deserve.

WRHN is proud to be a tobacco-free hospital as of April 2013. Patients, visitors and staff are not allowed to smoke anywhere on hospital property; this includes any of the sidewalks on hospital property (until you reach the street), the parking garage and inside your vehicle (when on hospital property).

Waterloo Regional Health Network is holding its first ever on-site clinic with Canadian Blood Services. 132 people have signed up for appointments, while an additional 17 spaces will be available for drop-in donors. New donors account for nearly 40 per cent of the booked appointments.

WRHN is pleased to mark Speech and Hearing Awareness Month in May, and we welcome an art display by Planned Lifetime Networks at our Freeport Campus helping to mark the month’s importance.

WRHN is proud to acknowledge two very special people in spiritual care for their achievements: (Rev.) John Lougheed and Rev. Dr. Florence Juma.

WRHN was pleased to welcome the KW Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1967 back to the KW Campus for a tour marking their 50th graduation reunion. The tour featured 44 people of the original class of 58 members. The grads came back to Waterloo Region from across the continent to take part in the reunion.
