The number of people newly diagnosed with cancer in Ontario has increased over the last two decades and will continue to rise, largely due to an aging population. Certain cancers can be prevented or detected earlier by regular screening, but according to a new report released today by Cancer Care Ontario, many eligible Ontarians aren’t up to date with their screening tests.

Grand River Hospital has received accolades for its commitment to organ, tissue and blood donation from Canadian Blood Services and Trillium Gift of Life Network.

At the tender age of four, Evan Conway knows he wants to be a firefighter. Evan has shown the bravery needed for firefighting through a more than two year journey with leukemia. He was happy to celebrate as the Kitchener Fire Department brought a truck to GRH’s KW Campus to mark his final treatment for the disease.

Every year, patients at GRH receive more than 575,000 infusions of intravenous medication. The team responsible for maintaining medication safety through infusion pumps has won GRH’s latest award of excellence for their efforts.

Early 2017 will see the next generation of computed tomography (CT) imaging brought to Grand River Hospital’s KW Campus.

Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik was among 200 people who took part in GRH's third annual Day in Psychiatry, held on Wednesday November 9th in Kitchener. The conference has linked GRH’s mental health and addictions staff and physicians with primary care doctors and teams in the community.
