Rehabilitation does not always require patients to stay in the hospital. Our multidisciplinary Neurological Rehabilitation team supports people who have had a recent stroke or other neurological event to regain as much independence as possible through both in-hospital and outpatient services.
The Neuro Rehabilitation Clinic, located at the Freeport Campus, offers services such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, recreation therapy, social work, speech language pathology, and dietician services. The team can help you with things like:
- re-learning daily activities, such as eating and dressing
- swallowing difficulties
- memory and thinking skills
- improving walking and balance
- communicating better by working on speaking, listening, reading, or writing skills
- connecting you with community services to help you cope with day-to-day life after a neurological injury
Each clinical service offers individualized assessments, therapy, and health education. Your therapists will work with you to determine how often you will need to attend appointments and how long you will be in the program.
Referrals
If you think you would benefit from our services, ask your doctor if a referral would be right for you. We can accept referrals from medical doctors or nurse practitioners — to submit a referral, please download and complete the referral form.
